The history of DAV in Texas
began in June 1921 with the formation of its first local chapter, Harwood
Davis Chapter Number One, in Fort Worth, following the national
organization's 1920 founding in Cincinnati. Texas quickly expanded its presence, with over twenty-five chapters established within a year. The Department of Texas DAV organized in Kerrville in 1923.
